When you place the Noble & Cooley Solid Shell Snare behind your kit, you’re taking part in a drumming tradition that spans over a century and a half. Steam bent from a premium cut of walnut at the company’s original location of Granville, Massachusetts, this snare’s sound delivers a richness in tone that's fat and full of depth, with plenty of warmth and cutting attack to meet the demands of any drummer. From the hand-cut bearing edges to the freeing and finely engineered adornment of Noble & Cooley's patented hardware, the Solid Shell Snare is designed to optimize both playability and tonal stability, wherever you take your kit..

Noble & Cooley takes great pride in being the leading developer of the modern steam-bent drum shell, and that pride is infused into every curve of their Solid Shell Walnut Snare. Handpicked for compositional uniformity, you’ll find the grain of this 1/4-inch cut of walnut to be of the highest standard, expertly engineered with a traditional steam-bending procedure that predates any other drum on the market. This process creates a freely resonating drum that maintains the walnut's naturally rich and deep tone. And with hand-cut bearing edges to the nearest 1/10,000th of an inch, you can expect a professional degree of tunability and pitch consistency that is built to last.

The Solid Shell Walnut Snare comes fitted with handfuls of Noble & Cooley patented hardware. Starting with its snare system, the Solid Shell boasts their proprietary smooth brass throw-off and cam-action snares, affording drummers the freedom to tighten things up without engaging too much choke underneath. On the exterior of the shell, the quality appointments continue, most notably through Noble & Cooley’s own Nodal Point lug assignment technology. With each lug post positioned at the nodal point of the shell, the natural tone of the Solid Shell Snare is optimized and free of negative sonic influence from the presence of the accompanying hardware. It’s the perfect solution for bridging drumhead sound and shell sound in your final tone!

Noble & Cooley drums aren’t just ordinary instruments — they’re pieces of American history! For nearly 170 years, Noble & Cooley has manufactured drums in Granville, Massachusetts, challenging modern innovation and accomplishing staggering feats along the way. From modernizing the steam bending drum-making process to designing gigantic world-record instruments — and even one from wood split by Abraham Lincoln — the company has perpetually stood in a league of its own since its dawning. Six generations of ownership later, Sweetwater is proud to work so closely with such an esteemed, high-quality drum manufacturer!
